Finally, after a century of fire suppression, finally, a healing 32-acre managed grassland burn returned to the Rogue River Preserve on October 18, 2025. But it took some perseverance to make it happen. We are tremendously grateful for the professional crew from Grayback Forestry Inc. who conducted the burn and for all the preserve’s neighbors who provided input.

Canopy Tree Volunteers Help SOLC Fall Trail Hazards
An all star crew of arborists from Canopy Tree Company volunteered in late September to help SOLC keep our hiking trails safe for educational groups out at the Rogue River Preserve.
OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute)
This fall a group of students from Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Southern Oregon University learned about Exploring and Conserving Wild Ashland through field experiences at Pompadour Bluff and the Oredson-Todd Woods.
