Canopy Tree Volunteers Help SOLC Fall Trail Hazards
An all star crew of arborists from Canopy Tree Company volunteered in late September to help SOLC keep our hiking trails safe for educational groups out at the Rogue River Preserve.
OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute)
This fall a group of students from Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Southern Oregon University learned about Exploring and Conserving Wild Ashland through field experiences at Pompadour Bluff and the Oredson-Todd Woods.
If you ever peer into a half-rotted log you might be so lucky to find a slippery pair of eyes staring back at you. If you’re extremely lucky those eyes could belong to a Pacific giant salamander (Dicamptodon tenebrosus). Usually seen wriggling through woody debris or eating a mildly toxic banana slug, these marbled beauties are found throughout western Oregon.
