Canopy Tree Volunteers Help SOLC Fall Trail Hazards

An all star crew of arborists from Canopy Tree Company volunteered in late September to help SOLC keep our hiking trails safe for educational groups out at the Rogue River Preserve.

With enthusiasm and good cheer the three volunteer arborists hiked in their climbing gear and saws and suited up to climb and fell portions of tree stems that broke in winter storms and were hung up in trees over one of the trails. With considerable skill and efficiency, the branches and hung up trees were safely dropped to the ground and moved alongside the trail where they will provide habitat for plants, fungi, and animals on the forest floor for decades to come.

A big thank you to SOLC volunteer Austin, and Canopy volunteers Cole and Joe for the donation of time and expertise! Future students, naturalists, and volunteers visiting Rogue River Preserve trails thank you as well.
