Land Trust Education Leadership Summit

At the start of March, SOLC hosted the annual Land Trust Education Leadership Summit, an event that brings together land-based education program staff for a week of connecting, visioning, and strategic planning. This year’s 22 participants (including two from SOLC!) represented organizations from Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, and Maine. We are all now part of a thriving nation-wide community of practice that meets regularly online for support and accountability, to grow and strengthen our programs to best serve learners of all ages in our special home places.

Since its inception in 2020, the Summit has been hosted by Feather River Land Trust, in the Lost Sierra region of California. SOLC attended the Summit there for the last two years, and has seen significant growth and stabilization of our education offerings as a result of the thoughtful and generative programming and community the Summit cultivates. We were honored to be trusted to take on hosting responsibilities this year, and we look forward to hosting again in 2027. In 2028, we plan to hand off the hosting to another land trust to maximize geographic accessibility of this remarkable network.
