Moth Night at the Rogue River Preserve

  • Rogue River Preserve 646 Rogue River Drive Eagle Point, OR, 97524 United States (map)

National Moth Week, founded in 2012, celebrates MOTHS throughout the WORLD! This July, we will host one of the many moth opportunities in Southern Oregon. During this evening, we will hear from moth expert, Dana Ross before venturing out to find some night flying friends. We will also have crafts, a costume contest, and games!

Our friends at The Crest at Willow Witt and Pollinator Project Rogue Valley will celebrate Moth Week the evening before on Friday, July 17. Their higher elevation forests are sure to bring out a wonderful diversity of moths. Everyone is welcome to attend both events to experience moths throughout the Rogue Valley.

Dana Ross is a recognized expert in butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) in the Pacific Northwest. His life-long amateur interest in these insects eventually led to an M.S. in Entomology from Oregon State University under Dr. Jeffrey Miller. Dana currently holds a position as Courtesy Faculty within Oregon State University’s Department of Integrative Biology where he serves as a Curator of Lepidoptera at the Oregon State Arthropod Collection.
