Come join us for a general introduction to the Rogue River Preserve, an outstanding property on the Rogue River near Eagle Point. This is a great opportunity for first-timers to see the beauty of this 352-acre property with floodplain forest, oak woodlands, vernal pools, incredible wildlife habitat, an historic home and over 2 miles of riverfront. Southern Oregon Land Conservancy is purchasing the property to benefit Southern Oregon communities and the plants and animals that thrive on this extraordinary land.
Tours will be held at 11 am and 1 pm and last approximately 1 ½ hours. These tours are free, but require pre-registration to reserve a spot. If demand is high, we will add more tours and arrange carpools, as parking is limited.

Meeting Location: The Preserve is located in Eagle Point. Directions and carpool options will be emailed upon registration.
Difficulty: Slow-paced walk on generally flat ground on roads and trails. Weed seeds and ticks may be present so long pants are advised. A portable toilet is available at the preserve.
If you ever peer into a half-rotted log you might be so lucky to find a slippery pair of eyes staring back at you. If you’re extremely lucky those eyes could belong to a Pacific giant salamander (Dicamptodon tenebrosus). Usually seen wriggling through woody debris or eating a mildly toxic banana slug, these marbled beauties are found throughout western Oregon.
