Focus: Independent quite time in nature on the Rogue River Preserve
Description: Do you yearn for some uninterrupted quiet time in nature? This may be just what you need! Join SOLC Land Steward, Karen Hussey, and others with a similar desire, say hello, and then find your own quiet spot to slow down and open your senses. Focus on the breeze on your face, the birdsong overhead, or the river’s unceasing flow to the sea. You will be free to meditate, practice yoga, or spend your time reading, journaling, or sketching.
Southern Oregon Land Conservancy is in the final stages of purchasing and conserving this iconic 352-acre parcel along the Rogue River. For more information on this initiative go to our Heart of the Rogue webpage.

Meeting Location: Meet in White City to carpool to the Preserve near Dodge Bridge County Park in Eagle Point. Exact meeting location and directions will be emailed upon registration.
Difficulty: Slow-paced 15-20 minute walk to get to our sitting location. A portable toilet is available at the preserve.

If you ever peer into a half-rotted log you might be so lucky to find a slippery pair of eyes staring back at you. If you’re extremely lucky those eyes could belong to a Pacific giant salamander (Dicamptodon tenebrosus). Usually seen wriggling through woody debris or eating a mildly toxic banana slug, these marbled beauties are found throughout western Oregon.
