Open Lands Day at Rogue River Preserve

  • Rogue River Preserve 646 Rogue River Drive Eagle Point, OR, 97524 United States (map)

Registration opens on 5/3 at 6:00 am

Please join us for Open Lands Day at the Rogue River Preserve! Rogue River Preserve's two miles of shoreline, large floodplain forest, oak woodlands and meadows are open to the public only during events like Open Lands Days, work parties, and youth education programs. So take advantage of this special opportunity! Explore the trails at your own pace, attend a guided hike, bring a picnic lunch or thermos of tea to enjoy by the river, or do all three.

To limit crowding on the trails, registration is free and required for the hike or self-guided exploration for the day. Guided hike participants are welcome to explore the property before or after their hike slot with just your hike registration.

10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Self-guided Explorations. Check out field guides, binoculars and other gear from our lending library, and chat with docents along the trail to learn as you explore. Up to 30 visitors.

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Bark Beetles. Dr. Bill Schaupp is an expert on Bark Beetles and forest health, and is a marvelous story teller. Learn about how to read bark beetle signs from the trees at Rogue River Preserve. Up to 15 hikers.

1:00 p. m.-3:00 p.m. - Native Bees. Look for native bees with entomologist Judith Maxwell from the Bee Atlas. Learn about their recent research and new bee discovery at Rogue River Preserve. Up to 15 hikers.
