Join ornithologist and wildlife photographer Frank Lospalluto and birding expert Bob Hunter on a special winter birding walk in the conserved Woodlands. Klamath Siskiyou Wildlands Center and Southern Oregon Land Conservancy are teaming up on this adventure where guests will enjoy a mixed forest canopy and open spaces where you may see Acorn Woodpecker, Oak Titmouse, White-breasted Nuthatch, and Western Bluebirds.
If you ever peer into a half-rotted log you might be so lucky to find a slippery pair of eyes staring back at you. If you’re extremely lucky those eyes could belong to a Pacific giant salamander (Dicamptodon tenebrosus). Usually seen wriggling through woody debris or eating a mildly toxic banana slug, these marbled beauties are found throughout western Oregon.
