Description: Hike in the early evening with botanist, naturalist and Land Conservancy staff, Kristi Mergenthaler. View the spectacular wildflowers along the Pacific Crest Trail at Sky King Cole, a conserved private property near Pilot Rock. We may see the rare Greene’s mariposa lily in bloom (banner photo above).

Meeting Location: Meet in Ashland near downtown to carpool to site. Exact meeting location and directions will be emailed upon registration.
Difficulty: Slow-paced walking on moderately flat trail but with moderate elevation gain, up to 3 miles. No bathroom.
If you ever peer into a half-rotted log you might be so lucky to find a slippery pair of eyes staring back at you. If you’re extremely lucky those eyes could belong to a Pacific giant salamander (Dicamptodon tenebrosus). Usually seen wriggling through woody debris or eating a mildly toxic banana slug, these marbled beauties are found throughout western Oregon.
