Focus: Dragonfly identification and appreciation, natural history
Description: Help us add to our dragonfly list while learning about dragonfly biology on a gorgeous property on the Rogue River. This outing will be led by amazing naturalists who are also talented birders and photographers, Norm Barrett, Gary Schaffer, and Jim Livaudais. Southern Oregon Land Conservancy is in the process of purchasing this beautiful 352-acre property.

Meeting Location: Meet in White City to carpool to the Preserve in Eagle Point. Exact meeting location and directions will be emailed upon registration.
Difficulty: Slow-paced walking on generally flat ground on roads, trails and off-trail. Weed seeds and ticks may be present so long pants are advised. A portable toilet is available at the preserve

If you ever peer into a half-rotted log you might be so lucky to find a slippery pair of eyes staring back at you. If you’re extremely lucky those eyes could belong to a Pacific giant salamander (Dicamptodon tenebrosus). Usually seen wriggling through woody debris or eating a mildly toxic banana slug, these marbled beauties are found throughout western Oregon.
