Stewardship

This term captures all that we do once we have conserved a property, including stewardship monitoring, maps showing protected lands, and other information related to our permanent responsibility of protecting each property.

Conservation Stewardship - Annual Monitoring

After a conservation agreement is placed on a property, the Land Conservancy is obligated to ensure that the terms of the agreement are upheld by monitoring the property every year thereafter. Monitoring entails making an annual visit to the property accompanied by the landowner.

Stewardship

Perpetuity (per·pe·tu·i·ty): For an indefinite period of time; forever.

The Southern Oregon Land Conservancy protects land in perpetuity.

What does this mean?

Once a property is conserved, the Land Conservancy must ensure that the unique values present are retained throughout time.
