Protecting Land

Donating a piece of property to the Southern Oregon Land Conservancy is a way to ensure that your vision for your land is fulfilled after your lifetime. Land can be donated during one's lifetime or through one's estate and may be a very sensible part of a well thought-out estate plan.

In certain, limited cases, the Southern Oregon Land Conservancy will purchase property that has high conservation and community values. The purchase is dependent on a valid appraisal and our ability to raise the necessary funds for the purchase and the long term stewardship of the land.

Currently, the Southern Oregon Land Conservancy owns one property located on Williams Creek.

The Southern Oregon Land Conservancy uses a number of conservation tools to protect land in our region for today, tomorrow, and beyond.  These tools are used by land trusts all across the United States to conserve properties that local residents feel are too special to lose forever.

There are several strategies for landowners who want to preserve their lands. A landowner may donate or sell parcels of land in order to place the land entirely in the Land Conservancy's care. More often, a landowner will donate a conservation easement to the Land Conservancy.
