Protecting Land

This term captures the idea of our approach to conserving land in the first place, including creating conservation easements and possibly purchasing land.

Property Donations

Donating a piece of property to the Southern Oregon Land Conservancy is a way to ensure that your vision for your land is fulfilled after your lifetime. Land can be donated during one's lifetime or through one's estate and may be a very sensible part of a well thought-out estate plan.

Purchasing Property

In certain, limited cases, the Southern Oregon Land Conservancy will purchase property that has high conservation and community values. The purchase is dependent on a valid appraisal and our ability to raise the necessary funds for the purchase and the long term stewardship of the land.

Currently, the Southern Oregon Land Conservancy owns one property located on Williams Creek.

Tools of the Trade

The Southern Oregon Land Conservancy uses a number of conservation tools to protect land in our region for today, tomorrow, and beyond.  These tools are used by land trusts all across the United States to conserve properties that local residents feel are too special to lose forever.

How We Work

Monitoring a conserved property with the landowners

The Southern Oregon Land Conservancy is part of a large network of land conservation organizations across the county working on the front lines with communities to help them preserve America's land heritage. Over 1,700 land trusts operate in the United States. Community based land trusts are experts at helping interested landowners find ways to protect their land in the face of ever-growing challenges that often result in the loss of habitat and open space.
