The Wood House was built by Civil War veteran Sylvester Wood.
A vernal pool located on the Wood House property

The historic Wood House sits on this property located along Highway 62 north of Eagle Point. It also supports vernal pools, a unique and endangered wetland habitat. This property is home to two unique and special species: the vernal pool fairy shrimp and large-flowered woolly meadowfoam. The conservation of this property substantially contributes to the protection of this habitat and the recovery of these species.  This project was completed with assistance from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
