Althouse Creek flows through an 80-acre piece of conserved land

Althouse Creek

This beautiful property protects 80 acres along a significant stretch of Althouse Creek in the Illinois River Basin.  Althouse Creek is a tributary of the Illinois River. This stretch of the Creek offers significant habitat for the native anadromous and other fish in the basin, including steelhead and several types of salmon.  The Southern Oregon Land Conservancy received a Walter A. Haas Jr. Award from the World Wildlife Fund to conserve this property in 2001.  Our primary objective with this project is to protect the stream and the riparian area.
